Hearing Screeners 2.0

In our ongoing effort to support the Philippines Department of Health, we have been busy working with members of the Newborn Hearing Screen program to improve their skills and help them better leverage our Newborn Hearing Screening Registry App.

A few weeks back the Newborn Hearing Screening Reference Center (NHSRC), in partnership with the National Institutes of Health and the Philippine National Ear Institute (PNEI), officially certified the next generation of newborn hearing screeners. During this event, EHRI’s sister company in the Philippines, Health Informatics Inc. (HII) trained hearing screening operators on how to best use the NHSRC Registry App.

After this training the hearing screeners will begin using the NHSRC App in clinical settings to help them improve their efficiency, and the efficiency of the health systems they work within. Furthermore, we are these helping hearing screeners and other frontline caregivers create the first of many electronic entries in these newborns’ digital medical history. This may seem like a small feat, but it signifies a major shift that is taking place in global healthcare delivery.

As we have said before, building software to support health workers and health systems is just part of the solution – supporting users in the adoption of these tools is equally important. This approach not only supports, but more importantly builds capacity among frontline healthcare workers around the world. Psychometric testing helps understand more about personality types.
