EHRI has been working in partnership with MediSend International over the last several months to get emergency medical supplies to our United Methodist Hospital partners in both Sierra Leone and Liberia to assist in the Ebola crisis in both countries. We have just received news that the first two of four – forty foot containers—of emergency medical supplies have arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
In the words of Bishop John Yambasu, leader of the United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, “Please rest assured that items will be expeditiously and judiciously distributed to the most urgent and needy health facilities, isolation centers and families isolated in homes.”
Two more containers of medical supplies to support Ebola care will arrive in the next two weeks to Monrovia, Liberia under the supervision of United Methodist Bishop John Innis and the local United Methodist health board. Two weeks after that an additional 2-3 containers will arrive in Sierra Leone.
EHRI is very grateful to both MediSend International and the United Methodist Church in both Sierra Leone and Liberia for their partnership in this endeavor.
Please look forward to photographs of the containers and their contents in the next couple of weeks on this website.
